Get a Library Card
Any Portage area resident is eligible to receive a free Portage Public Library card with proof address and a photo ID. See the Circulation Policy for acceptable forms of ID, library cards for minors, application form, and further eligibility information. Printable Library Card Application
Free Public Computer Use
With a library card you can use the Internet and Microsoft Office software for free. You can reserve a computer in advance, or simply log on to an open computer with your library card number and PIN. Printing is $0.10 per black and white page or $0.25 per color page. See the Public Computer Use Policy for further details.
If you have a laptop or other device, you can also use the library's wireless connection for free. See the Public Computer Use Policy for further details.
Meeting and Study Rooms
Any of the three study rooms can be booked immediately based on availability. Meeting rooms are for meetings with six or more people and require an application form in advance. See the Meeting Room Use Policy for the application form and regulations and the Study Room Policy for further details.
Loan Periods and Fines
28 Days: Books and audio books
14 Days: New adult fiction, magazines, newspapers, music CDs, software
7 Days: DVDs
$0.10/day – Adult books, adult magazines, adult audio books, CDs, and newspapers.
$0.05/day – Children’s books, children’s audio books, and children’s magazines.
$0.50/day – DVDs, Blu-Rays, CD-ROMs, and videogames.
$1.00/day – Items from outside the SCLS system of libraries (OLL)
Most items can be renewed up to two times provided no one else has reserved the item. If provided with an email address, the library will send a courtesy pre-overdue notice two days prior to an item's due date. See the Circulation Policy for full details.
