Starting this September, the library will be embarking on a mandatory building maintenance project, focused on upgrading our sprinkler system. This will ensure that our library remains a safe space for both staff and our patrons as we approach 2020 and beyond.
We expect to restrict certain library services during the project; this will include limited access to both the building and adult/teen library materials. Fortunately, the children's entrance and children's area will not be affected, so Portage families can expect to have full access to our children's play space, materials, and programs. Furthermore, adult and teen library programs will still be offered as we look to share available library space and consider off-site program locations. We want to assure everyone that holds placed by patrons, as well as new titles will be available for checkout. Limited computer access will also be available.
For the benefit of all, library staff will be unable to accomodate any community bookings in the Bidwell Room, Sanderson Room, or study rooms during the period of September 10, 2019 through January 24, 2020. We apologize ahead of time for any inconvenience, but as this is an essential improvement that must be addressed, we will be as flexible as possible to continue offering great service to the community. Thank you.
