Parents/Caregivers: Pre-K Klub is geared toward area preschoolers currently enrolled in a Portage school district pre-kindergarten program (Head Start, The Little School, Alphabet Express, St. John's/St. Mary's) and homeschoolers but who do not attend weekly preschool story times at the library. Klub meets once a month and includes Mrs. Foster reading a classic children's picture book and then using "STEM" (science, technology, engineering, math) principles to further the lesson. Kids have a lot of "hands-on" fun with experiments, math concepts, and more.
When choosing books for beginning or emerging readers, be sure to look for colored dots on books in the easy reader collection. The colored dot will be on the spine of the book and is meant to be a recommendation when choosing books for beginning readers. Red Dot books are pre-primers for children just starting to read.
Youth Services Displays: Be sure to check out the youth display case near the front door to the Youth Department. You'll always find up-to-the-minute programming information.
